Supermicro Estimates $18.5 Billion To $19.5 Billion In Quarterly Revenue, Against Guidance Of $14.5 Billion To $15.5 Billion

Super Micro Computer said its quarter ended September 30 produced revenue of an estimated $18.5 billion to $19.5 billion, well above its own guidance of $14.5 billion to $15.5 billion. The preliminary update came in an 8-K filed Tuesday, and the company attributed the gap primarily to increased demand for AI platforms.

What the update says

The press release, attached to the 8-K as an exhibit, covers the first quarter of fiscal 2027. Revenue is estimated at $18.5 billion to $19.5 billion versus the $14.5 billion to $15.5 billion guided.

Gross margin, the share of each sales dollar left after direct costs of making the products, is estimated at 12.0% to 12.5%, versus guidance of 10.4% to 10.8%. The company said the margin gap was primarily due to customer and product mix.

The figures are unaudited, rest on management estimates and could change as the company closes its books. The company said actual results may differ materially, and its independent accounting firm has not audited, reviewed, compiled or performed any procedures on the preliminary numbers.

What it changes

For holders, the company's own guidance for the quarter is now well below what management expects to report, on both revenue and margin. Final numbers could still move, since these are ranges and not closed results.

Super Micro closed at $32.47 in Tuesday's session, up 1.15% from the prior session, before the company published the update at 4:44 p.m. ET. The price therefore does not reflect this news.

What to watch

Supermicro will hold a live webcast on Tuesday, November 3, at 5:00 p.m. ET to review full first-quarter results. That report will show where final revenue and margin land against these ranges.

The next test is the November 3 call, when audited-process results replace the estimates.
