Berkshire Hathaway and its CEO Warren Buffett jointly bought 924,281 shares of Sirius XM in open-market trades over three sessions, at an average $29.10 a share, or $26.9 million in all, according to a Form 4 (the report insiders file after trading) filed Tuesday.

Three days of buying

The purchases began Friday with 743,965 shares at a weighted average of $28.89. On Monday the group added 66,968 shares at $29.47, and on Tuesday it bought 113,348 more at $30.23.

After the trades, the group reports 125,731,398 Sirius XM shares, all held indirectly and none directly. That stake was worth about $3.87 billion at Tuesday's close of $30.80.

The Form 4 history for the 90 days from August 5 shows no earlier Buffett purchase of Sirius XM stock.

GEICO and pension plans hold the shares

Nearly all the shares sit in two places. Government Employees Insurance Company, the GEICO insurer and a Berkshire subsidiary, owns 109,746,508 of them.

Four pension funds run for Berkshire units hold the other 15,984,890, led by the consolidated plan with 10,556,408.

Buffett says he beneficially owns the GEICO shares only to the extent of his financial stake in them. Berkshire, Buffett and the pension plans each disclaim beneficial ownership of the pension-held shares.

The company and its stock

Sirius XM runs the SiriusXM satellite radio service and the ad-supported Pandora streaming service. It makes money mainly from subscriptions, much of the subscriber growth coming from buyers and lessees of new and pre-owned cars in the United States. According to its 10-K for 2025, subscribers declined in both 2024 and 2025.

The shares closed Tuesday at $30.80, up about 48% this year as of Monday's close, within a 52-week range of $19.77 to $32.66.

Any further Form 4 filings would show whether the Berkshire group kept buying after these three sessions.
