Kiniksa CEO Sanj Patel Plans To Sell 553,794 Shares Worth $51.6 Million
The planned sale follows a raised Arcalyst sales forecast and a 136.5% run in the stock this year.
Kiniksa Pharmaceuticals Chairman and CEO Sanj K Patel plans to sell 553,794 Class A ordinary shares, with an aggregate market value of $51.6 million, according to a Form 144, the notice insiders file before a planned sale. The approximate sale date is October 30, and the notice came Friday, days after the company raised its Arcalyst sales forecast.
Where the shares come from
Patel acquired the shares through equity awards, founder holdings and an option exercise. Charles Schwab is named as the broker, and Patel is listed as both an officer and a director.
Kiniksa develops therapies for heart and blood vessel conditions. Its only commercial product is Arcalyst, a weekly injection approved in the United States for recurrent pericarditis, a painful inflammation of the sac around the heart, and for two rare inflammatory conditions.
A sale after a strong quarter
On Tuesday's report, Kiniksa posted third-quarter revenue of $286.0 million, against $180.9 million a year earlier. It lifted its 2026 Arcalyst sales forecast to between $1.045 billion and $1.050 billion, from $980 million to $995 million. Patel said the company is positioning Arcalyst to achieve blockbuster status this year.
The shares jumped 16% in premarket trading on the day of the report.
Up 136.5% this year
Kiniksa shares closed at $97.56 on Thursday, up 136.5% for the year to that point, and have risen 161% over 12 months through the October 29 close. At Friday's close the stock was $92.24, down 5.45% on the session.
Whether Patel sells all, some or none of the planned shares will show up in later SEC filings.
