TransMedics Stock Soars 17.95% After Raising Its Annual Revenue Outlook — Adding $429 Million

TransMedics Group, which makes portable systems that preserve donated organs for transplant, soared 17.95% to $81.36 in Friday trading, as of 9:50 a.m. ET, adding $429 million in market value. The rally followed a raised revenue outlook for 2026, which CEO Waleed Hassanein defended on Thursday's earnings call despite weaker October flights.

Services Grow, Per-Share Earnings Fall

TransMedics released its third-quarter results on Thursday. Management's annual revenue forecast now stands at $764 million to $774 million.

The services business generated $90 million in revenue, a 60% increase from the third quarter a year earlier, management said on the call.

Adjusted earnings were $0.51 per share, above the $0.27 consensus estimate from Zacks Investment Research. The comparison with the company's own results went the other way: adjusted earnings fell from $0.66 per share a year earlier.

A Rebound After A 43% Decline

TMDX entered Friday down 43% for the year through Thursday's close, while the S&P 500 had gained 8% over that period. A 17% decline over the previous month was part of that retreat.

In Friday trading, TransMedics was on pace for its biggest one-day gain in at least 275 trading sessions. Its market value stood at $2.82 billion in Friday trading, as of 9:50 a.m. ET.

Organ Preservation And An Aircraft Fleet

The Organ Care System, or OCS, keeps donated hearts, lungs and livers functioning during the journey to a transplant. Rather than storing organs on ice, the portable device maintains warmth and supplies oxygen outside the body.

TransMedics also operates the National OCS Program for U.S. transplant centers. The service handles organ procurement, management of the organ-preservation process and transportation, including through 22 fixed-wing aircraft the company has bought.

Single-use disposable sets for OCS transplants and services sold to transplant centers provide most of its revenue. TransMedics reported $605.5 million in total revenue for 2025 and had 898 employees worldwide as of December 31, 2025.

The results paired a higher annual sales forecast and fast-growing services revenue with lower adjusted earnings per share than a year earlier.
