IREN Stock Soars 23% After AI Cloud Sales Reach $200 Million

IREN, which supplies data centers and computing services for artificial intelligence, soared 23% in Friday trading, as of 9:51 a.m. ET, adding $1.7 billion in market value after Thursday's quarterly results. The company reported first-quarter AI cloud sales of $200 million, against $71 million in the preceding quarter.

AI Sales And Advance Funding

The rally put IREN shares at $22.11, up 22.63%, in Friday trading, as of 9:51 a.m. ET, with a total market value of $8.95 billion. The stock was on pace for its second gain of 10% or more this month.

IREN reported its results Thursday and discussed its revenue milestone and reduced spending plans on the subsequent earnings call. A new customer agreement requires advance funding for most of the related graphics-chip spending, the company said.

$6 Billion Still To Finance

IREN expects to cover $6 billion of remaining planned capital spending using equipment financing, data-center financing, customer prepayments and other sources. Those financing plans remain subject to market conditions, the company said.

The expansion serves a business that owns its data-center sites, GPU computing equipment and the software customers use to deploy and manage AI workloads. Hyperscalers, frontier labs, AI developers and enterprises mainly reserve capacity through multi-year contracts, buying either access to computing hardware or managed cloud services.

IREN is also winding down Bitcoin mining to make room for AI. As of June 30, 2026, operating AI capacity was about 40 megawatts, and its grid connection agreements and equivalents covered about 5 gigawatts across the United States, Canada, Spain and Australia.

A Rebound From A 52% Retreat

Friday's gain followed a sharp decline: IREN was down 52% for the year at Thursday's close, compared with an 8% rise in the S&P 500 over the same period. Before Friday's move, IREN shares had fallen 56% over the previous month.

The company's revenue timetable also remains a target. IREN aims for an annual revenue pace above $4 billion in January, with a possible shift to February because of customer design changes and supplier timing, the company said.

Customer prepayments are part of IREN's expansion funding plan; the remaining financing still depends on market conditions.
