Chime Raises 2026 Outlook As Revenue Jumps 32% To $718 Million And Profit Hits $44 Million
The digital bank posted a third straight profitable quarter and lifted its fourth-quarter and full-year forecasts as lending grew faster than card payments.
Chime Financial, the mobile banking company, said third-quarter revenue grew 32% to $718 million, up from 27% growth in the second quarter, and raised its fourth-quarter and full-year 2026 guidance. Net income of $44 million made it the third consecutive profitable quarter on standard accounting, against a $55 million loss a year earlier, the company said in its 8-K on Wednesday.
Lending outgrows payments
Platform-related revenue rose 52% to $274 million, which the company said reflects the continued scaling of MyPay and Instant Loans. Payments revenue, earned mostly on card spending, rose 22% to $444 million, or 26% when Outbound Instant Transfer revenue is included.
MyPay originations reached a record $5.3 billion, with loss rates around 1%, and the product's transaction profit hit a record $80 million. More than 20% of Active Members use Instant Loans, which the company said originated $381 million in the quarter.
Adjusted EBITDA, a non-standard profit measure, reached $137 million, a 19% margin, up 14 percentage points from a year earlier. Active Members grew 20% to 10.9 million, including a record 1.8 million net additions over 12 months. Chime Chief Executive Chris Britt called it "our strongest quarter yet as a public company."
A bank for higher earners
Chime offers checking, savings, credit-building cards and short-term cash advances through partner banks The Bancorp Bank and Stride Bank, and earns most of its revenue when members spend on its cards. Members earning $75,000 or more a year are its fastest-growing group, the company said, and Prime members generate more than double the average revenue per member.
It plans an unsecured credit card next year and is testing a line of credit for Prime members. Chime Enterprise signed The Michaels Companies and the City of Charleston as employer partners.
New guidance and the Stride deal
Chime now expects full-year revenue of $2.792 billion to $2.802 billion, about 28% growth, and adjusted EBITDA of $519 million to $524 million. For the fourth quarter it expects revenue of $757 million to $767 million and adjusted EBITDA of $161 million to $166 million.
The pending purchase of Stride Bank remains on track to close in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals, and the company still expects more than $100 million in annual net after-tax synergies.
Chime holds its earnings call at 5 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday.
