Arch Insurance Agrees To Buy Premier Dealer Services, Expanding In Auto Dealer Insurance
Arch's North American unit plans to run the Ohio-based provider as a standalone business and expects to close by the end of 2026.
Arch Insurance North America, the U.S. and Canadian insurance arm of Arch Capital Group, agreed Friday to buy Premier Dealer Holding Corp., the Dublin, Ohio parent of automotive finance and insurance provider Premier Dealer Services. Arch expects the deal to close by the end of 2026.
A standalone unit inside Consumer
The deal covers Premier Dealer Holding and its subsidiaries, including Premier Dealer Services, or PDS, according to the press release. Once the purchase is complete, PDS is expected to run as a standalone business within Arch Insurance's Consumer Division.
PDS was founded in 1998. The release describes it as a provider of loyalty and automotive protection products and customized services for dealerships, built on a technology platform, dealer training and long-standing dealer relationships.
Arch and PDS already work together. The release says the acquisition builds on that relationship, pairing Arch's specialty insurance expertise with PDS's administration capabilities, technology infrastructure and relationships.
What each CEO said
"We know the company well," said Matt Shulman, CEO of Arch Insurance North America. He said bringing PDS and Arch together will "strengthen our capabilities in the automotive F&I market." F&I is shorthand for finance and insurance products sold at dealerships.
John Topits, CEO of PDS, said joining Arch gives the company the financial strength and resources to keep investing in its people, products and technology. Dealers and agents will keep working with the same Premier team, he said.
The buyer and the approvals
Arch Capital Group, a Bermuda company, provides insurance, reinsurance and mortgage insurance worldwide through its subsidiaries. The release put its capital at about $27.3 billion at September 30, 2026. Arch is part of the S&P 500 Index.
The transaction needs regulatory approvals, the companies said, and those approvals will decide whether the end-of-2026 target holds. The announcement did not carry a purchase price.
Arch has targeted a close by the end of 2026, pending regulatory approvals.
