Amplitude Revenue Climbs 25% To $110.6 Million, But Operating Loss Persists Under Standard Accounting

Amplitude, which sells a software platform that helps companies analyze their product data, said third-quarter revenue rose 25% to $110.6 million, and it still lost $24.6 million from operations under standard accounting. On an adjusted basis the company earned $5.7 million from operations, a 5.1% margin that CFO Andrew Casey called the highest in company history.

Two ways to read the quarter

Revenue compared with $88.6 million a year earlier, and annual recurring revenue climbed 24% to $431 million, the company said in its earnings release. Remaining performance obligations, contracted revenue not yet recognized, reached $497 million, up 27%.

Adjusted operating income was $5.7 million, against $0.6 million a year earlier. The adjusted measure leaves out stock-based pay and related payroll taxes, which came to $28.8 million this quarter versus $25.7 million a year ago.

Under standard accounting, the operating loss narrowed to $24.6 million from $25.7 million. The net loss per share widened to $0.19 from $0.18, even as the weighted share count fell to 126.0 million from 133.0 million.

Cash flow and big customers

Free cash flow was $5.8 million, up from $3.4 million a year earlier, on $7.1 million of operating cash flow. Customers paying at least $100,000 a year in recurring revenue rose 31% to 855.

Cash and marketable securities have shrunk this year. Cash and equivalents stood at $58.9 million on September 30 against $81.1 million at the end of 2025, and the company spent $89.5 million repurchasing stock in the first nine months of 2026.

Selling context for AI-built software

Amplitude's pitch is that code is getting written faster, but knowing what to build is the bottleneck. CEO Spenser Skates said the company, Statsig and its AI products help companies "understand what to build next."

The company made Agent Analytics available to all customers in August and introduced Headless Amplitude in September, which brings product data into AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and Cursor. Customers pay for subscriptions, mostly billed annually in advance.

For the fourth quarter, Amplitude expects revenue of $110.8 million to $113.2 million and adjusted operating income of $7.0 million to $9.0 million. For the full year it expects revenue of $415.8 million to $418.2 million.

Management discusses the outlook on a live webcast at 5:00 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday.
