AbbVie Director Jennifer Davis Leaves Board After Being Named CEO Of Align Technology

AbbVie director Jennifer L. Davis is leaving the company's board, effective Monday, November 2, because she was recently named chief executive of Align Technology, an 8-K filed Monday shows. She told the board of her plan on Wednesday, October 28.

A resignation with no dispute attached

Davis, who sits in the board's Class II group of directors, notified AbbVie's directors of her intent to step down in light of her new post at Align Technology, according to the filing.

The company stated that her resignation is not the result of any dispute or disagreement with AbbVie on any matter relating to its operations, policies or practices.

The filing reports her departure under the item covering the exit of directors, and it was accepted by the SEC at 4:05 p.m. ET Monday, the day her resignation took effect.

The company she is leaving

AbbVie is a research-based biopharmaceutical company that develops, manufactures and sells medicines. Its lineup spans immunology, including Skyrizi, Rinvoq and Humira, along with neuroscience, oncology, aesthetics and eye care.

It operates as a single global business segment. In the United States it sells mainly through independent wholesalers; according to its annual report for 2025, McKesson, Cardinal Health and Cencora accounted for substantially all of its US pharmaceutical sales.

The stock on the day

AbbVie shares closed at $288.84 in Monday trading, before the filing was accepted. The company's own words give no tie between her exit and its business, and the filing is the only reason attached to the move.

Davis's resignation took effect Monday, November 2, the same day AbbVie filed notice of it.
