TSMC Guides Fourth-Quarter Revenue To US$52.3 Billion-US$54.3 Billion After NT$763.06 Billion Quarterly Profit

TSMC said third-quarter net income was NT$763.06 billion, up 68.7% from a year earlier, on consolidated revenue of NT$1,494.24 billion, up 50.9%. The company announced the results Thursday in a release furnished to the SEC on Form 6-K, along with fourth-quarter guidance.

What the release says

Diluted earnings per share were NT$29.43, or US$4.60 per ADR unit (a U.S.-listed share certificate), for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. The company noted the figures follow TIFRS on a consolidated basis and have not been approved by its board.

Against the second quarter of 2026, revenue rose 17.6% and net income rose 8.0%. In US dollars, revenue was US$46.72 billion, up 41.2% from a year earlier and 16.2% from the previous quarter.

Gross margin was 66.4%, operating margin 58.7% and net profit margin 51.1%. Gross profit was NT$992.38 billion versus NT$588.54 billion a year earlier, a 68.6% rise.

By technology, 2-nanometer shipments were 8% of wafer revenue, 3-nanometer 33%, 5-nanometer 28% and 7-nanometer 10%. Advanced technologies, meaning 7-nanometer and more advanced, made up 79%.

The fourth-quarter outlook

Management expects fourth-quarter revenue of US$52.3 billion to US$54.3 billion, above the third quarter's US$46.72 billion. Assuming 31.8 NT dollars per US dollar, it guided gross margin of 65% to 67% and operating margin of 56.5% to 58.5%.

Third-quarter gross margin of 66.4% sits inside that guided range. Yahoo Finance reported that the margin's sequential decline came mainly from dilution by early 2-nanometer capacity, and that high-performance computing made up 68% of third-quarter revenue.

Chief Financial Officer Wendell Huang said the quarter was "supported by strong demand for our leading-edge process technologies." For the fourth quarter he pointed to "the steep ramp-up of our 2-nanometer technology."

Fourth-quarter results will be measured against that US$52.3 billion to US$54.3 billion revenue range and the 65% to 67% gross margin guide.
