Rivian Produced 19,751 Vehicles In The Third Quarter And Held Its Full-Year Delivery Target — With A New CFO Waiting In The Wings
The electric-vehicle maker reaffirmed its 2026 delivery guidance of 65,000 to 70,000 vehicles even as a finance leadership transition looms.
Rivian produced 19,751 vehicles and delivered 19,248 at its Normal, Illinois plant during the third quarter ending September 30, 2026, and left its full-year delivery guidance unchanged, according to an 8-K filed Friday with the SEC. The numbers land at a moment when the company is managing a double departure in its finance leadership — CFO Claire McDonough, who signed Friday's filing, steps down October 30, and the corporate controller has since announced his own exit.
What The Filing Says
The 8-K filed Friday covers production and deliveries for the quarter ending September 30, 2026. Rivian built 19,751 vehicles at its Normal, Illinois manufacturing facility and handed 19,248 of them to customers during the same period.
The company described those results as "in line with Rivian's outlook" and reaffirmed its full-year 2026 delivery guidance of 65,000 to 70,000 vehicles — a range that has not changed.
The filing also set October 29, 2026 as the date for third-quarter financial results, to be released after market close. A management audio webcast is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. ET the same day.
The Finance Leadership Transition Running Alongside The Production Ramp
McDonough signed Friday's SEC filing in her capacity as chief financial officer, but her tenure ends October 30 — the day after the earnings call she will not host. She is departing to become CFO of GE Vernova after nearly six years in the role, according to CFO Dive.
The same report noted that corporate controller Jon Franklin announced his own departure roughly a month after McDonough's exit became public. Rivian has named Derek Mulvey, its vice president of finance, as interim CFO, effective when McDonough leaves. A permanent search is underway.
The back-to-back departures mean the October 29 earnings call — covering revenue, net loss, and any updated cost or margin commentary — will be among the first major investor-facing events the company navigates without its longtime finance chief. Holding the full-year delivery range steady removes at least one variable from that conversation.
Where The Stock Stood Friday Morning
RIVN shares edged up about 0.25% to $14.80 in Friday pre-market trading, against a Thursday close of $14.76, according to market data.
The next hard date for holders is October 29, when Rivian releases its third-quarter financial results after market close, followed by the 5:00 p.m. ET webcast — the first earnings event the company will enter without McDonough as CFO.
