Pfizer Makes Cecile Guegan Permanent CFO With $1.3 Million Salary
Pfizer's board unanimously dropped the interim label from Guegan, 55, who set her focus as disciplined capital allocation.
Pfizer's board unanimously elected Cecile Guegan, 55, as permanent Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President, the company said Tuesday, ending her stint as interim finance chief. The appointment took effect November 1, 2026.
Pay and portfolio
Guegan's pay as of the effective date is a $1,300,000 annual base salary plus a target cash incentive of $1,300,000, or 100% of her base salary. The board's Compensation Committee unanimously approved the package.
She has held the interim CFO post since August 16, 2026. In the permanent job she is responsible for audit, treasury, investor relations, tax, insurance, operations planning and analysis, corporate controllership, and business finance and analytics, according to the press release.
A Wyeth-era finance veteran
Pfizer develops, manufactures and sells prescription medicines, vaccines and biological products, with products including Eliquis, Ibrance and Comirnaty. Guegan has more than 25 years of global finance leadership in the pharmaceutical industry, the filing says.
She joined Pfizer through its 2009 acquisition of Wyeth, where she was CFO supporting the Asia Pacific and EMEA/Canada businesses. At Pfizer she held finance leadership roles across Oncology, Research and Development, and the Global Biopharmaceuticals Group.
She was Senior Vice President of Finance for Global Biopharmaceuticals since 2022, and before that Vice President, Finance, Research & Development and Business Office from 2020 to 2022. Before her interim appointment she was directly responsible for the financial operations and reporting of the biopharmaceutical business across all therapeutic areas and geographies.
Capital allocation is the stated priority
Chairman and CEO Albert Bourla said Guegan will provide "the financial rigor and focus this next chapter demands as we aim for meaningful growth."
Guegan said her focus is "a disciplined approach to capital allocation while making targeted investments today to drive revenue growth later in the decade and beyond." The company's oncology and obesity efforts include its acquisitions of Seagen and Metsera. Guegan has previously led major enterprise acquisitions and integrations, the release says.
Guegan holds a master's degree in Management (Audit and Finance) from the Graduate School of Management of Brest, France.
