Old Dominion Freight Line Declares $0.29 Quarterly Dividend, 3.6% Above Last December's Payout

Old Dominion Freight Line's board declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.29 per share, according to an 8-K filed Thursday. The company's press release says the payment is 3.6% higher than the quarterly dividend it paid in December 2025.

What the 8-K says

The dividend is payable on December 16, 2026, to shareholders of record at the close of business on December 2, 2026. The company announced it in a press release dated Thursday, attached to the filing as Exhibit 99.1.

The company reported the declaration under Item 8.01 of the 8-K, the section for other events. Clayton G. Brinker, vice president of accounting and finance and the principal accounting officer, signed the filing.

The release names Adam N. Satterfield, executive vice president and chief financial officer, as the contact. It carries no executive quote.

What it changes for holders

The payout rises 3.6% from the quarterly dividend paid in December 2025, the company said. The filing and release give no other dividend comparison.

If you own the shares, the record date is the one that counts: holders on the books at the close of business on December 2 are in line for the $0.29 payment.

Old Dominion shares closed at $188.90 at Wednesday's close, up 0.3% for that session, before the dividend was made public Thursday morning.

The caveat in the release

The release's risk list includes "the ability or the failure to declare and pay future cash dividends." That is the company's own legal caution about forward-looking statements, and it applies to dividends beyond this one.

The release describes Old Dominion as one of the largest North American less-than-truckload motor carriers, meaning it moves freight shipments that do not fill a whole trailer, and as a union-free organization. Its shares trade on the Nasdaq under ODFL.

The next date that matters is December 2, the record date, with payment scheduled for December 16.
