Oculis Stock Slides 4%, Wiping Out $18 Million, After Setting Up Share Sale Program

Oculis, a Swiss developer of eye-disease drugs, saw its shares fall 3.80% to $7.34 in Wednesday trading as of 12:41 p.m. ET, erasing about $18 million in market value. The slide came the session after the company said in an SEC filing on Tuesday that it had set up a program to sell shares over time, up to $125 million.

A $125 million share-sale ceiling

The program is an at-the-market offering, which lets a company sell new shares gradually at prevailing prices. It arrived alongside the company's third-quarter results, in which Oculis said cash and short-term investments of $252.0 million would fund operations into the second half of 2029.

The stock was on pace for its second drop of 3% or more this month. Its biggest one-day decline since Nov. 2, when it fell 6.7%, was also in view. After Wednesday's drop, the company was worth about $452 million.

A stock down 62% this year

Oculis shares were down about 62% year-to-date as of Tuesday's close, against a gain of about 11% for the S&P 500, and had slid 13% over the prior month. That close was 77% below the highest close of the past year, set on May 11.

Oculis is a late clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company that develops drugs for eye diseases and diseases of the nerves connected to the eye. Its pipeline has three clinical-stage candidates: OCS-01, an eye drop in two late-stage trials for diabetic macular edema; Licaminlimab, an eye drop in a registrational trial for dry eye disease; and Privosegtor, a small molecule in registrational trials for two optic-nerve conditions.

Trial readouts carry the story

Management said topline results from the PREDICT-1 dry eye trial are expected around year-end. CEO Riad Sherif said a positive result would position Licaminlimab to potentially become "the first precision medicine in ophthalmology."

Oculis holds an R&D Day on December 8, and the PREDICT-1 readout is due around year-end.
