Madison Air Solutions, which makes indoor air products and systems for commercial and residential buildings, saw its shares soar 7.98% to $23.13 in Friday trading, as of 3:03 PM ET, adding $858 million in market value. The specific catalyst was not immediately clear; the company’s higher quarterly sales and profit and increased annual sales forecast were already public in Thursday’s earnings release.

A Rebound After A Monthly Slide

Friday’s advance put Madison Air on pace for its second gain of 7% or more this month. The stock had fallen 14% over the previous month before Friday’s session.

Madison Air remained 48% below its 52-week high in Friday trading, as of 3:03 PM ET. Its total market value stood at $11.6 billion in Friday trading, as of 3:03 PM ET.

Sales Outlook Rises With Backlog

Third-quarter net sales reached $1,126.7 million, a 25.4% increase from a year earlier, according to Thursday’s earnings release. Net income rose 89.1% to $107.4 million, with a 9.5% net margin. Adjusted net income was $199.3 million, up 100.4%.

Orders grew 25.9%, while backlog increased 119.3% year over year to $3,187.2 million. The company raised its annual sales forecast to $4,050 million–$4,125 million from $3,825 million–$3,925 million. Adjusted EBITDA guidance moved from $1,020 million–$1,065 million to $1,040 million–$1,070 million.

That adjusted earnings measure reached $298.3 million for the quarter, up 18.6%, with a margin of 26.5%. Continuing operations generated $172.0 million in operating cash flow, and free cash flow was $158.0 million.

Cooling Growth And An Acquisition Ahead

Commercial sales increased $217.9 million, or 39.3%, from a year earlier. Growth spanned cooling systems using air, liquid or both, along with air movement, heating and commercial dehumidification products. Commercial adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization rose $38.3 million, or 23.6%.

Data-center cooling growth and costs to ramp up new programs affected company margins, management said. Big Ass Fans performed particularly strongly within Commercial, while AprilAire led Residential growth. The services business posted a record quarter.

Madison Air’s portfolio also includes Nortek Data Center Cooling and Nortek Air Solutions, whose air-purification systems serve semiconductor fabrication facilities. AprilAire sells its Healthy Air System for homes, and Big Ass Fans sells workplace fans. Of 2025 net sales of $3.3 billion, approximately half came from replacement and upgrade demand and approximately 10% from aftermarket parts and services. The company has over 8,650 employees.

The pending ebm-papst purchase remains a separate next step. Jill Wyant, Madison Air’s president and CEO, said in the earnings release: “We continue to expect to complete our acquisition of ebm-papst soon after the end of the year.”

A dedicated transition team is preparing for the ebm-papst closing, Wyant said.
