Kiniksa Names Operating Chief Ross Moat President, Lifts His Salary To $700,000

Kiniksa Pharmaceuticals, the maker of the pericarditis drug ARCALYST, promoted Ross Moat to president while keeping him as chief operating officer, effective immediately on Saturday, according to an 8-K filed Thursday. His base salary rises to $700,000 from $650,000 on January 1, 2027.

A raise that starts in January

The board's Compensation Committee made the appointment on Saturday, October 17. Moat continues to report to Sanj Patel, Kiniksa's chairman and chief executive.

The committee also approved a higher annual target bonus, 60% of salary versus 55% now. Both pay increases take effect January 1, 2027.

The executive running day-to-day operations

Moat has held various roles at Kiniksa since June 2019 and was most recently executive vice president and chief operating officer. In that job he oversees commercial, clinical, regulatory and manufacturing operations.

The filing says he has no family ties to any director or executive officer, and no related-party transactions that require disclosure.

What Moat now helps run

Kiniksa develops therapies for heart and blood vessel conditions. Its only commercial product is ARCALYST, a weekly injection approved in the United States for recurrent pericarditis, a painful inflammation of the sac around the heart, and for two rare inflammatory conditions, CAPS and DIRA.

The company has sold the drug since March 2021 through its own specialty sales force. It licenses ARCALYST from Regeneron, which makes the drug and shares profits with Kiniksa evenly, according to the company's annual report. Kiniksa's pipeline includes KPL-387, an antibody in mid-stage testing for recurrent pericarditis.

Shares closed before the filing

KNSA shares rose 1.37% to $80.79 at Thursday's close. The filing was accepted at 4:28 p.m. ET, after the session, so that move is not a reaction to it.

Moat's biographical details are in the proxy statement Kiniksa filed with the SEC on April 16, 2026.
