Golar LNG Agrees To Buy 2013-Built Carrier For Fourth FLNG Unit, Targets 2029 Redelivery

Golar LNG said Wednesday it will buy the Grace Dahlia, an LNG carrier owned by NYK Line, and turn it into its fourth floating LNG unit. The release, furnished to the SEC on Form 6-K, states no price.

What the release says

The Grace Dahlia was built in 2013. Golar's statement from Hamilton, Bermuda, dated Wednesday, says NYK Line maintained and managed it to the highest operational standards.

The ship is meant to become FLNG #4, which Golar ordered on August 12, 2026. Its LNG storage capacity is 177,427cbm.

That is approximately 20% more storage than the 3.5MTPA FLNG Esperanza, which is under construction. Golar said the extra capacity gives prospective customers more offloading flexibility, while Golar keeps the benefits of a repeat MKII design.

Price and closing conditions are not stated in the release.

Where and when it gets built

FLNG #4 will be converted alongside Esperanza at CIMC Raffles' Yantai shipyard in China. Redelivery is scheduled for 2029.

Golar said that timing makes FLNG #4 the world's earliest available FLNG capacity. That is the company's own claim; the release offers no outside comparison.

GLNG shares traded at $49.91, down 0.24%, in Wednesday trading as of 9:49 a.m. ET, for a market value of $5.1 billion.

What to watch

The next dated marker in the release is the 2029 redelivery of FLNG #4 after conversion at Yantai. The release names no earlier milestone.

The release gives two numbers that define the unit so far: 177,427cbm of storage and a 2029 redelivery.
