A Rebound From A 20% Slide

The specific catalyst for Friday’s move was not immediately clear. CW shares were on pace for their biggest one-day gain since March 31 in Friday trading, as of 1:57 PM ET.

Curtiss-Wright entered Friday down 21% year-to-date through Thursday’s close, compared with an 8% gain for the S&P 500. Its market value stood at $17.2 billion in Friday trading, as of 1:57 PM ET, with the stock still 42% below its 52-week high.

Orders Grow Faster Than Sales

Wednesday’s results showed sales of $953 million, up 10% from $869 million a year earlier. Operating income rose 13% to $188 million, and diluted earnings were $3.77 per share; adjusted earnings reached $3.94 per share, up 16%.

New orders totaled $1.1 billion, up 15%, exceeding quarterly sales. The backlog reached $4.6 billion, up 12% year-to-date. Curtiss-Wright generated $157 million in free cash flow and repurchased $352 million of shares during the quarter.

“Orders increased 15% year-over-year, primarily driven by continued strong demand in defense electronics and growth across all of our A&D markets,” Lynn M. Bamford, chair and CEO of Curtiss-Wright, said in the earnings release.

Aerospace and defense sales grew 9%, with fighter jets, helicopters and submarines contributing to growth. Commercial-market sales rose 11%, supported by commercial nuclear solutions and industrial vehicle products. The company operates Aerospace & Industrial, Defense Electronics and Naval & Power segments; U.S. and foreign government end users accounted for 58% of net sales in 2025.

Higher Earnings And Cash Targets

The $15.10–$15.40 full-year adjusted earnings estimate is now $15.40–$15.60 per share. The sales outlook now calls for growth of 8%–10%, versus 8%–9% previously, and adjusted operating income growth of 12%–14%, versus 11%–13%.

The adjusted operating-margin target increased to 19.2%–19.4% from 19.1%–19.3%. Free cash flow is now forecast at $595 million–$615 million, a $10 million increase from the previous range.

Curtiss-Wright expects Defense Electronics revenue to increase from the prior quarter in the fourth quarter.
