BlackRock Now Holds 5.02% Of Liberty Global's Class A Shares

BlackRock holds 8,873,117 Class A shares of Liberty Global, or 5.02% of the class, according to a passive ownership filing (a Schedule 13G) submitted Tuesday. Liberty Global runs broadband and communications businesses, some through joint ventures, and is based in Bermuda.

Votes behind the stake

BlackRock reported sole voting power over 8,395,741 of the shares and no shared voting power. The event date listed in the filing is September 30, 2026.

The filing classes BlackRock as a parent holding company. It says the position reflects certain business units, not the whole firm, and the units are named in an exhibit that includes BlackRock Fund Advisors, BlackRock Institutional Trust Company and BlackRock Investment Management.

Various persons have the right to receive dividends or sale proceeds from the shares, and none has an interest above 5% of the Class A stock, the filing says.

No bid for control

BlackRock certified that the shares were acquired and are held in the ordinary course of business. It said they were not bought to change or influence control of Liberty Global.

Liberty Global's VMO2 joint venture operates in the U.K. under the Virgin brand, and its VodafoneZiggo venture operates in the Netherlands. The company also holds a controlling interest in Formula E, and its Class A shares trade on Nasdaq. Its market value was $2.6 billion at Tuesday's session.

The 8,395,741 shares with sole voting power are the part of the position BlackRock can vote on its own.
