Textron Stock Soars 12%, Adding $1.6 Billion, After Raising Full-Year Profit Outlook

Textron shares climbed 12.01% to $87.73 in Thursday trading, as of 10:39 a.m. ET, adding $1.6 billion in market value, on the day the maker of Cessna jets and Bell helicopters raised its full-year earnings and cash flow outlook.

A higher outlook on jet deliveries

Textron raised its adjusted earnings forecast for the full year to $6.55 to $6.65 per share, from $6.40 to $6.60. Manufacturing cash flow before pension contributions is now expected at $800 million to $900 million, up from $700 million to $800 million, the company said.

The raise came after Congress approved Army funding for Bell's MV-75 Cheyenne helicopter program. Higher Citation jet deliveries offset weaker Bell revenue in the quarter.

Third-quarter adjusted earnings were $1.76 per share on revenue of $3.8 billion. Textron Aviation delivered 51 jets, against 42 a year earlier, according to the release. The company spent $239 million on share repurchases in the quarter.

The stock was on pace for its fourth straight daily gain and its biggest one-day gain in at least 275 trading sessions.

A stock that had lagged the market

Textron, a multi-industry company, also builds military and commercial helicopters, unmanned aircraft, armored vehicles and golf cars, and runs a finance arm. Its 2025 revenue was $14.8 billion, about 27% of it from U.S. Government contracts.

Before Thursday, the shares were down about 10% this year as of Wednesday's close, while the S&P 500 was up about 13%. They sat 22% below their highest close of the past year, set on Feb. 20.

In July, Textron reported revenue growth of 3% to $3.8 billion, with net income of $248 million.

Textron's CFO said on the earnings call that a delayed first MV-75 production award would increase the expected negative charge on Bell's Army program.
