Range Resources Expects $58.1 Million Derivatives Gain For Third Quarter, With Gas Hedges Doing The Work
An 8-K shows $51,855 thousand in expected net cash from hedge settlements, almost all from natural gas contracts.
Range Resources expects to report a total gain on derivatives of $58.1 million for the three months ended September 30, 2026, according to an 8-K filed Wednesday. The filing, which arrives ahead of the full quarterly results, shows natural gas hedges supplying nearly all of the cash.
What the 8-K says
Under Item 2.02, the company's section for results of operations, Range said it expects net cash received on derivative settlements to total $51,855 thousand. That is the figure it expects to appear on the statement of cash flows.
The pieces are uneven. Natural gas derivatives contributed $52,763 thousand, and natural gas basis derivatives added $3,621 thousand. Basis derivatives are hedges tied to the price difference between a gas hub and the local sale point.
The other two commodities went the other way. Oil derivatives came to negative $3,732 thousand, and NGL derivatives, the hedges on natural gas liquids, came to negative $797 thousand.
What it changes
The filing gives holders a read on one line of the quarter before the full report. Without the gas contracts, the settlement total would have been negative, since oil and NGL hedges together cost the company cash.
The numbers are not final. Range said the amounts are preliminary and subject to change, and that final figures will appear in its Form 10-Q, the quarterly report, for the period ended September 30, 2026, or in the corresponding earnings release.
Range shares closed at $42.48 at Tuesday's close, before the filing was made. The filing itself carries no stock reaction.
What to watch
The Form 10-Q or the earnings release for the quarter will carry the final derivative figures. Those will show whether the $58.1 million gain and the $51,855 thousand cash total hold.
The final derivative numbers will come in the 10-Q or the earnings release for the quarter ended September 30, 2026.
