Enact Director Thomas McInerney To Resign From Board December 31, Citing No Dispute
The mortgage insurer's board loses a director and Compensation Committee member at year-end, and the company says no disagreement is behind it.
Enact Holdings director Thomas J. McInerney told the company and its board on Thursday that he intends to resign effective December 31, 2026, the mortgage insurer said in an 8-K filed Friday.
No dispute behind the exit
McInerney plans to stay on both the board and its Compensation Committee until the resignation takes effect, according to the filing.
Enact said his decision was not the result of any dispute or disagreement with the company, or with any matter relating to its operations, policies or practices.
The business he leaves behind
Enact is a private mortgage insurer. It covers part of the unpaid balance on home loans with low down payments, meaning loans above 80% of the home's value, and protects lenders and investors against losses when borrowers stop paying.
Its customers include national banks, non-bank lenders, local mortgage bankers, community banks and credit unions. In 2025 it wrote $51.5 billion of new insurance, and its largest customer accounted for 22% of that total, according to its annual report.
Hardin Dean Mitchell, Enact's executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer, signed the filing on Friday.
McInerney's resignation takes effect December 31, 2026, and he remains on the board and its Compensation Committee until then.
