Alpha And Omega Stock Soars 21.43% After Earnings Show Rapid AI And Server Growth

Alpha and Omega Semiconductor, which designs and supplies chips that manage electricity in electronic products, soared 21.43% to $22.44 in Friday trading, as of 10:13 AM ET, adding $120 million in market value. The rally followed its first-quarter results, released after Thursday’s market close, which paired rapid AI and server growth with weakness in traditional PCs.

AI Gains, PCs Weaken

AI and server sales accelerated sharply. Stephen Chang, CEO of Alpha and Omega Semiconductor, said on Thursday’s earnings call that “revenue grew more than 65% sequentially and 250% year-over-year,” referring to that business.

The growth was not enough to lift companywide sales. First-quarter revenue totaled $177.8 million, down 2.6% from a year earlier, and the company reported an adjusted loss of $0.07 per share.

Management is considering breaking out the AI business in its reporting, Chang said. For the December quarter, management expects advanced computing revenue to set another quarterly record, but expects traditional PC weakness to more than offset that increase.

Computing Anchors The Chip Business

Computing is Alpha and Omega’s largest end market. Its roughly 2,900 products switch, manage and protect electrical flows in devices ranging from personal computers, graphics cards, game consoles and servers to appliances, power tools and smartphones.

The product lineup includes power MOSFETs, IGBTs and power integrated circuits. The company sells mainly through distributors to device makers and the contract manufacturers that build their products.

WPG and Promate accounted for 53.0% and 19.3% of revenue, respectively, in the fiscal year ended June 30, 2026. Alpha and Omega operates a wafer plant in Hillsboro, Oregon, and handles chip packaging and testing in Shanghai.

A Rally After A Sharp Slide

AOSL shares entered Friday down 36% over the previous month through Thursday’s close. Before Friday’s move, the stock had lost 7% year-to-date, compared with an 8% gain for the S&P 500 over the same span.

Alpha and Omega’s market value stood at $680.05 million in Friday trading, as of 10:13 AM ET.

In Friday trading, as of 10:13 AM ET, AOSL shares were on pace for their biggest one-day gain since June 2.
