Vylor landed in the S&P 500 on Thursday — its very first day as a public company — after S&P Dow Jones Indices [added the stock](https://press.spglobal.com/2026-10-01-Vylor-Added-to-the-S-P-500-Twilio-Set-to-Join-S-P-500-Others-to-Join-S-P-MidCap-400-and-S-P-SmallCap-600?ref=bullished.co) effective prior to the opening of trading, replacing its former parent Corteva, which completed the spin-off that same morning. Every fund that tracks the index is now required to own VYLR shares.

## How Vylor Skipped The Line Into The S&P 500

Most companies earn their way into the S&P 500 over time, growing large enough to meet the index's eligibility criteria. Vylor took a different path: it inherited Corteva's seat directly, on the same day the separation [closed on October 1](https://press.spglobal.com/2026-10-01-Vylor-Added-to-the-S-P-500-Twilio-Set-to-Join-S-P-500-Others-to-Join-S-P-MidCap-400-and-S-P-SmallCap-600?ref=bullished.co), making it an S&P 500 constituent from the moment it began trading on the NYSE under the ticker VYLR.

S&P Dow Jones Indices said the mechanics were straightforward: because Corteva was already in the index, the spin-off transferred that membership to Vylor. Corteva itself does not disappear from the S&P family — it moves down a tier, joining the S&P MidCap 400 effective October 6, where S&P Dow Jones Indices said it will be more representative of the mid-cap market space.

Vylor's Consumer Staples sector classification under the Global Industry Classification Standard is also set for October 6, when it becomes official.

## The Company Behind The Ticker

Vylor describes itself as an advanced seed and genetics company. Its financial targets are ambitious: the company is [aiming for net sales](https://markets.ft.com/data/announce/detail?dockey=600-202610010800PR%5FNEWS%5FUSPRX%5F%5F%5F%5FCG57140-1&ref=bullished.co) of approximately $11.2 billion to $11.9 billion by 2029.

Underpinning those targets is what the company calls a [$19 billion technology pipeline](https://markets.ft.com/data/announce/detail?dockey=600-202610010800PR%5FNEWS%5FUSPRX%5F%5F%5F%5FCG57140-1&ref=bullished.co), spanning 12 planned platform launches across corn, soy, and wheat over the next decade, according to the company's announcement.

Chief Executive Chuck Magro framed the company's ambition in broad terms, telling investors the company [aims "to harness](https://markets.ft.com/data/announce/detail?dockey=600-202610010800PR%5FNEWS%5FUSPRX%5F%5F%5F%5FCG57140-1&ref=bullished.co) the next generation of technology to propel the industry forward."

## The Second Swap: Twilio In, Warner Bros. Discovery Out

Thursday's S&P Dow Jones Indices release also covered a second [S&P 500 change](https://www.benzinga.com/news/26/10/62124324/vylor-added-s-p-500-twilio-set-join-s-p-500-others-join-s-p-midcap-400-and-s-p-smallcap-600?ref=bullished.co), effective October 6: Twilio will join the index, replacing Warner Bros. Discovery, which is being acquired by Paramount Skydance in a deal S&P Dow Jones Indices said is expected to close soon, pending final closing conditions. Post-merger, Paramount Skydance will switch its primary listing to the NYSE.

The October 6 changes ripple further down the index family. Formfactor will move from the S&P SmallCap 600 into the S&P MidCap 400 slot vacated by Twilio. Workiva will join the S&P SmallCap 600 in Formfactor's place. Olin, displaced from the S&P MidCap 400 by Corteva's arrival, drops to the S&P SmallCap 600, filling the spot left open by Qorvo — which is being acquired by Skyworks Solutions in a deal also expected to close soon.

## What Happens On October 6

Tuesday, October 6 is the next key date for holders tracking these moves. [Twilio's addition to the S&P 500](https://www.benzinga.com/news/26/10/62124324/vylor-added-s-p-500-twilio-set-join-s-p-500-others-join-s-p-midcap-400-and-s-p-smallcap-600?ref=bullished.co) and Warner Bros. Discovery's deletion both take effect before that morning's open, as do all the cascading MidCap 400 and SmallCap 600 changes.

For Vylor specifically, October 6 is when its GICS Consumer Staples classification formally takes hold — a detail that matters for sector-focused funds whose mandates are tied to that designation.

Corteva's move to the S&P MidCap 400, Twilio's addition to the S&P 500, and Vylor's Consumer Staples classification all take effect before the open of trading on Tuesday, October 6, according to S&P Dow Jones Indices.
