He guided fourth-quarter deliveries to 41,000 to 43,000 trucks. ## Missed parts, extra cost Asked by a Jefferies analyst whether supply limited deliveries, Feight said the third-quarter total was "somewhat affected by supply constraints." He said suppliers are still getting up to speed as PACCAR and others build more trucks. Build rates, he said, rose "significantly" and quickly, which strained the system. "All it takes is one or two missed parts to make it meaningful," he said, adding that almost all suppliers are performing well. A Wells Fargo analyst asked about the fourth-quarter margin outlook of 14% to 15% for trucks, parts and other. Feight said building trucks without all their parts carries "a cost adder," which has some impact on price-cost in the quarter "as we think it might occur." Pricing power, he said, has been good, with strong demand for 200-milligram engines. ## Flat margins, strong pricing An Evercore ISI analyst said gross margins now look roughly flat from the third to the fourth quarter, and asked whether weaker truck margins or weaker parts margins were the cause. Feight said the truck-side explanation was more accurate: production costs are having an impact, even as truck pricing is great. Chief Financial Officer Brice Poplawski said price-cost stayed favorable in the quarter, mostly from favorable price realization on trucks. Third-quarter trucks, parts and other gross margin was 14.5%. Feight put revenue at [$7.94 billion](https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/articles/paccar-q3-earnings-snapshot-120639930.html?ref=bullished.co) and net income at [$847.5 million](https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/articles/paccar-q3-earnings-snapshot-120639930.html?ref=bullished.co), up from $590 million a year earlier. Parts revenue hit a record $1.78 billion, and financial services earned $138 million before tax. ## Emissions rules cloud 2027 Feight projected a U.S. and Canadian Class 8 market of 240,000 to 260,000 trucks this year and 240,000 to 280,000 next year. Customers want to keep buying 200-milligram engines while newer lower-NOx engines are proven, he said, and orders are starting to pick up. Pricing 2027 trucks is harder because the government has not finalized emissions penalty levels, Feight said. He expects clarity in about four to eight weeks, though he added that the timing is unclear.
