# OGE Plans To Own And Run Most Of Its Next 1.1 Gigawatts: 'We Want The Ball'

[OGE Energy](https://www.bullished.co/tag/oge/), the holding company for Oklahoma utility OG&E, intends to own and operate the majority of the [1.1 gigawatts](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/oge-energy-corp-reports-third-quarter-2026-results-302921314.html?ref=bullished.co) of new capacity it still needs, Chairman, President and CEO Sean Trauschke said on the company's third-quarter earnings call Wednesday. "We want the ball, so to speak," he said, describing how the utility wants to run plants when weather turns extreme.

## Own, not buy

Asked by a J.P. Morgan analyst whether OGE would own the remaining capacity or buy it from third parties, Trauschke said

Trauschke said the company will update investors on the Oklahoma rate review and the Horseshoe Lake Unit 15 pre-approval case on its first-quarter call, and on approvals for the year's additional generation filings on its second-quarter call.
