The company reported the results Thursday in a release accompanying its SEC filing, with commercial launches and expanded field teams pushing that spending to $61.4 million. ## Furoscix Drives The Sales Increase Commercial products brought in $45.0 million, up 102% from a year earlier. Furoscix contributed $22.4 million; MannKind added the treatment through its October 2025 purchase of scPharma. Furoscix treats fluid overload in heart failure and chronic kidney disease using an at-home furosemide injection. Shipments of its FDA-approved ReadyFlow version started in mid-September, and approximately 75% of Furoscix shipments had shifted to ReadyFlow by late October. September brought record monthly prescription and prescriber counts, the company said. Michael Castagna, MannKind's chief executive officer, said, “we believe Furoscix will generate more revenue in the fourth quarter than it did in the first half of 2026.” Afrezza, MannKind's inhaled mealtime insulin, [generated $19.3 million](https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2026/11/05/3397002/0/en/mannkind-reports-third-quarter-2026-financial-results-and-provides-business-update.html?ref=bullished.co), up 5% year over year. Total prescriptions increased approximately 17% from the second quarter, which the company attributed to its pediatric launch. Average monthly prescriptions from patients new to the brand rose approximately 80% from the second quarter. MannKind handles U.S. sales of all three commercial products. ## Higher Costs Outrun Revenue The quarter's net loss was $23.224 million, or $0.07 per share, versus a $7.985 million profit, or $0.03 per share, a year earlier. By MannKind's adjusted measure, the loss was $3.615 million, compared with adjusted profit of $22.447 million. The company tied its selling and administrative increase to Furoscix promotion, larger field teams and the ReadyFlow and pediatric Afrezza launches. Commercial product costs, excluding acquired-intangible amortization, reached $11.2 million versus $4.5 million. Furoscix's on-body infusor carries a lower gross margin than Afrezza, reducing the commercial gross margin. Research spending increased 2% to $14.4 million. ReadyFlow development, additional personnel and the nintedanib program raised costs; discontinuing the MNKD-101 clinical study and finishing Afrezza's pediatric study partly offset those increases. United Therapeutics sells Tyvaso DPI, the pulmonary-hypertension treatment MannKind supplies. Royalties rose 12% to $37.463 million as United Therapeutics' net sales increased. Collaboration and service revenue fell 27% to $19.405 million because MannKind sold less product to its partner; the company said quarterly delivery timing, rather than annual order-volume changes, explains those fluctuations. For the first nine months, revenue increased 27% to $301.416 million, while selling and administrative spending rose 103% to $173.8 million and research spending increased 28% to $49.6 million. MNKD shares rose about 5% to $3.93 in Friday trading. ## Cash And The Lung Pipeline MannKind held $96.6 million in cash, cash equivalents and investments at September 30, 2026\. A $50 million private placement closed on July 24, 2026, funding a $45 million payment owed following FDA approval of ReadyFlow. The company reported favorable early-stage results for inhaled nintedanib in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, including tolerability findings, and said a global mid-stage trial is underway. MannKind also signed a licensing and collaboration agreement with Rose Pharma to develop a rapid-acting, short-duration inhaled GLP-1 treatment for weight management.
