Main Street Capital originated new or increased commitments of [$157.2 million](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/0001396440/000139644026000104/main-q32026xplprxexx991.htm?ref=bullished.co) in its private loan portfolio during the third quarter of 2026, according to a press release attached to an [8-K filed Thursday](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/0001396440/000139644026000104/main-20261008.htm?ref=bullished.co). It funded investments with a cost basis of $162.0 million over the same period.

The Houston-based firm, which trades on the NYSE as MAIN, listed three notable third-quarter deals. All three are packages built around first lien senior secured loans, plus a small equity piece.

By cost, 92.6% sat in first lien senior secured debt. The remaining 7.4% was equity investments or other securities.

The company says its private loan portfolio companies generally have annual revenues between $25 million and $500 million. It describes its private loan strategy as primarily investing in secured debt alongside private equity fund sponsors.
