# JetBlue CEO Says Bond Market Is Disconnected From Results As Creditor Rumors Swirl

JetBlue CEO Joanna Geraghty told analysts on Tuesday's third-quarter [earnings call](https://www.benzinga.com/news/26/10/62623767/jetblue-airways-q3-2026-earnings-call-transcript?ref=bullished.co) that she sees "a significant disconnect between the narrative in the bond market and what our financial results are demonstrating." The airline, which flies to 112 destinations across the US, the Caribbean and Latin America, Canada and Europe as of December 31, 2025, was pressed on liquidity and on rumors of a creditor group.

## Creditor rumors meet the liquidity guide

A Barclays analyst raised "rumors of like a [creditor group forming](https://www.benzinga.com/news/26/10/62623767/jetblue-airways-q3-2026-earnings-call-transcript?ref=bullished.co)" and asked how much capital [JetBlue](https://www.bullished.co/tag/jblu/) should raise. CFO Ursula Hurley pointed to the 17% to 20% of trailing 12-month revenue range the company has used as its liquidity guide since launching its JetForward turnaround plan.

Hurley said that target could drop once the business reaches consistent profitability and oil settles. She told the Barclays analyst that [$2.8 billion](https://www.cnbc.com/2026/10/26/jetblue-jblu-3q-2026-earnings.html?ref=bullished.co) of unencumbered aircraft and engines can be a bridge of 14 months to 2028, when the company targets at least $1 of earnings per share and positive free cash flow.

Geraghty said, "I think there's a [significant disconnect](https://www.benzinga.com/news/26/10/62623767/jetblue-airways-q3-2026-earnings-call-transcript?ref=bullished.co)" between the bond-market narrative and the results, and cited the company's financial flexibility to reach that 2028 goal. Quarter-end liquidity was [$2.2 billion](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1158463/000115846326000095/ex991-earningsreleaseq32026.htm?ref=bullished.co), including a $600 million undrawn credit facility, and total unencumbered assets were about $7 billion.

## Aircraft financing first, other levers later

Answering a separate question from a Deutsche Bank analyst, Hurley said she has "[zero concerns](https://www.benzinga.com/news/26/10/62623767/jetblue-airways-q3-2026-earnings-call-transcript?ref=bullished.co) about being able to finance in the market," noting the aircraft resemble those the airline financed earlier this year. The near-term focus is aircraft financing: JetBlue has given notice to draw an extra [$250 million](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1158463/000115846326000095/ex991-earningsreleaseq32026.htm?ref=bullished.co) under its aircraft-backed accordion, with funding expected in the fourth quarter.

A JPMorgan analyst asked about options beyond debt. Geraghty named Paisley, venture investments and the co-brand credit card, but said "[we're just not in a position](https://www.benzinga.com/news/26/10/62623767/jetblue-airways-q3-2026-earnings-call-transcript?ref=bullished.co) today to kind of further elaborate on those." Paisley, JetBlue's travel-products subsidiary, is on track for nearly $100 million of operating income this year, management said.

Geraghty also said liquidity concerns are not slowing JetForward initiatives. "Absolutely not," she said.

## The pressure behind the call

The balance-sheet scrutiny followed a Wall Street Journal report that senior creditors were working with restructuring adviser PJT Partners, which sent the shares to a new low on Monday. Coverage also described a [sharp fall](https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/business/company-news/2026/10/27/jetblue-shares-rally-as-airline-seeks-to-calm-financial-concerns/?ref=bullished.co) in the price of the TrueBlue senior secured note backed by the loyalty program. [JetBlue's total debt](https://www.cnbc.com/2026/10/26/jetblue-jblu-3q-2026-earnings.html?ref=bullished.co) was $8.4 billion as of Sept. 30, CNBC reported from the earnings filing.

On operations, management said unit revenue rose 18.4% in the third quarter and guided to an 18% to 22% increase in the fourth. Shares were at $2.86 in Tuesday trading, up about 21% from the prior close, for a market value of $894 million.

Hurley said the $250 million aircraft draw is due in the fourth quarter, and management said it will give a fuller 2027 outlook on the next call.
