[Hyatt Hotels](https://www.bullished.co/tag/h/), which runs and licenses hotels and all-inclusive resorts worldwide, has used AI to shrink the turnaround on property improvement plans for conversions from several weeks to a day, CEO Mark Hoplamazian said on the company's [third-quarter earnings call](https://markets.ft.com/data/announce/detail?dockey=600-202610290655BIZWIRE%5FUSPRX%5F%5F%5F%5F20261029%5FBW743898-1&ref=bullished.co) on Thursday.

## From weeks to a day

Hoplamazian, Hyatt's chairman, president and chief executive, said the turnaround on those plans, which cover the work a converting hotel must do to meet brand standards, "has been reduced from several weeks to a day." It has already paid off in Asia Pacific, he said, the region that led the way in working out how to weigh structural considerations, brand standards and brand codes.

The tool also helps developers estimate what a conversion might cost, he said.

Hyatt is also building an end-to-end AI platform spanning "from the time that a deal is pitched through the time that the hotel is ramped." He declined to give more detail for competitive reasons. He expects to be largely finished with it in the first quarter of next year, adding that conversions remain a significant proportion of Hyatt's net rooms growth.

## Cutting the Gordian knot

A Barclays analyst asked about the new development solutions rolled out in early October and whether they connected to the lowered net rooms growth outlook last quarter. Hoplamazian said several changes had accumulated over the year, not just in the past month or two.

On systems conversions, he said traditional ways of cutting cycle time are "painful and arduous," so Hyatt is building tools to work around them. "If you can't untie the Gordian knot, you sometimes have to cut it," he said, describing tools meant to get conversions live and ramped faster by plugging in World of Hyatt, the company's loyalty program.

## Net rooms growth still the soft spot

CFO Joan Bottarini said Hyatt still expects full-year net rooms growth of about 6%, with more than half of the year's openings landing in the fourth quarter. Hoplamazian said the remainder of expected fourth-quarter growth is largely multi-property conversions, some of which have taken longer to finalize than anticipated, plus strategic partner hotel additions.

Third-quarter net rooms growth was [3.9%, excluding rooms removed](https://markets.ft.com/data/announce/detail?dockey=600-202610290655BIZWIRE%5FUSPRX%5F%5F%5F%5F20261029%5FBW743898-1&ref=bullished.co) from the count after the Playa Hotels acquisition. Hyatt ended the quarter with a record development pipeline of about 158,000 rooms, up 12% from a year ago.

For next year, Hoplamazian said the pipeline puts first-quarter openings growth in the 6% to 7% range, with some conversions carrying over into early 2027\. Bottarini said Hyatt will give 2027 guidance with fourth-quarter results.

Hyatt's fourth-quarter report is where Bottarini said the 2027 outlook will arrive, and Hoplamazian said the AI conversion platform should be largely done in the first quarter.
