# Fortuna's Senegal Step-Out Holes Hit 7.8 g/t Gold Over 12.8 Meters, And Drilling Starts On Bambadji

Fortuna Mining said step-out drilling beyond current pit designs at Diamba Sud in Senegal kept returning high-grade gold, including hole DSR1128 at Southern Arc, which cut [7.8 g/t gold over an estimated true width of 12.8 meters](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1341335/000110465926115270/tm2627491d1%5Fex99-1.htm?ref=bullished.co) from 103 meters. The company's Tuesday release, furnished to the SEC on Form 6-K, also said drilling has started at Kabewest on the recently acquired Bambadji properties.

## What the drilling returned

Hole DSR1149 returned [3.9 g/t gold](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1341335/000110465926115270/tm2627491d1%5Fex99-1.htm?ref=bullished.co) over an estimated true width of 40.8 meters from 228 meters. Paul Weedon, Fortuna's Senior Vice President of Exploration, said results like it "highlight the opportunity to further expand the Diamba Sud Mineral Reserve."

Other Southern Arc highlights in the release: DSDD699 at 6.8 g/t over 12.0 meters from 96 meters, and DSR1132 at 4.5 g/t over 20.0 meters from 65 meters. The company said DSR1132 sits in a broad zone beyond the current pit design that remains open at depth.

Since the February 2026 update, a further 196 holes totalling 36,592 meters were completed at Southern Arc, which concludes that program. Another 53 holes totalling 8,787 meters were drilled at Kassasoko to test an expanded footprint and its link to the nearby Western Splay deposit. Mineralization at Kassasoko remains open at depth and along strike.

Diamba Sud carries Probable Mineral Reserves of 20.5 million tonnes averaging 1.75 g/t gold, containing 1.15 million ounces, per the company's June 29, 2026 feasibility study release.

## Kabewest and the Bambadji program

Bambadji was acquired from Barrick and IAMGOLD, per Fortuna's August 10, 2026 announcement. Five diamond-drill rigs and one reverse circulation rig are working under an $8 million, 51,000-meter program for the rest of 2026.

Kabewest is the most advanced target, about 2.3 kilometres from the proposed Diamba Sud plant site. Weedon said initial core samples show strong similarities to the breccia-hosted mineralization at Diamba Sud, and that the company looks forward to the assay results, which are pending.

More than eight drill-ready targets have been prioritized for 2026\. Drilling will move on to Fatima, Djenebou, Latifa, Kach, Wari and Kabetea through the rest of 2026 and into the first half of 2027\. Three mineralized trends run across a strike length of more than 60 kilometers, with multi-kilometer gaps in limited, shallow historical drilling.

## What to watch

Fortuna intends to prepare an updated Mineral Resource and Mineral Reserve estimate as at year-end, with more Southern Arc step-out drilling planned for 2027\. An initial Inferred Mineral Resource estimate for Kabewest is planned for the annual update due for publication in the first quarter of 2027.

Kabewest assays are the next result to arrive, and the Kabewest resource estimate is slated for the first quarter of 2027.
