Dimensional Fund Advisors LP now reports a [5.1% stake](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/0000354204/000035420426001062/xslSCHEDULE%5F13G%5FX01/primary%5Fdoc.xml?ref=bullished.co) in Patrick Industries, or 1,648,160 common shares, according to a Schedule 13G, a passive ownership disclosure, filed Thursday. The event date in the filing is September 30.

## What the filing says

Dimensional reported sole voting power over [1,612,783 shares](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/0000354204/000035420426001062/xslSCHEDULE%5F13G%5FX01/primary%5Fdoc.xml?ref=bullished.co) and no shared voting power. The filing lists the firm as a registered investment adviser, based in Austin, Texas.

It says it advises four registered investment companies and also manages or sub-advises other commingled funds, group trusts and separate accounts. All the reported shares are owned by those funds and accounts, not by Dimensional itself, and the firm disclaims beneficial ownership.

The filing adds that, to Dimensional's knowledge, no single fund's interest exceeds 5% of the class.

## What it changes

The filing is a passive one. Dimensional certified that, to the best of its knowledge, the shares were acquired and are held in the ordinary course of business, and not to change or influence control of Patrick Industries.

For holders, that means a new 5%-plus owner has appeared on the register, but one that says it has no control agenda. In Thursday trading, as of 2:40 p.m. ET, the stock was at $64.85, down 0.11% from the prior close (market data). Patrick Industries is based in Elkhart, Indiana.

Dimensional's certification says the position was not acquired to influence control of Patrick Industries.
