# Cytokinetics Says Heart Drug's New-Patient Share Is Nearing 45%, Targets Over 50% By Year-End

Cytokinetics, the muscle-focused drugmaker behind the heart drug myCORSO, said on its earnings call Wednesday that its share of new patients starting a cardiac myosin inhibitor is [approaching 45%](https://seekingalpha.com/news/4665735-cytokinetics-gaap-eps-of--137-beats-by-009-revenue-of-476m-beats-by-526m?ref=bullished.co) in the third quarter, up from about 40% in the second. Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Callos said the company remains committed to topping 50% by year-end.

## Launch numbers climb

Chief Financial Officer Sung Lee said myCORSO net revenue was $44.5 million in the third quarter, up 76% from the second. U.S. sales were $43.1 million and Europe added $1.4 million. Total revenue was [$47.6 million](https://seekingalpha.com/news/4665735-cytokinetics-gaap-eps-of--137-beats-by-009-revenue-of-476m-beats-by-526m?ref=bullished.co), against $1.9 million a year earlier.

The quarterly net loss was [$190.1 million](https://wtop.com/national/2026/11/cytokinetics-q3-earnings-snapshot/?ref=bullished.co), or $1.37 per share, compared with $306.2 million, or $2.55 per share, a year earlier. Cytokinetics ended the quarter with about $1.6 billion in cash and investments, down from $1.7 billion at the end of the second quarter.

Callos said nearly 1,100 U.S. prescribers had written the drug by quarter-end, up from more than 700, and more than 2,800 patients had been dispensed it, up about 86% from 1,500\. Among high-volume prescribers, he said, share is approaching 50%, "a leading indicator of future growth." Switching from the rival drug accounts for mid-single-digit percent of patients, he said.

Of roughly 120,000 eligible U.S. obstructive patients, only about 28,000 are treated with a cardiac myosin inhibitor today, Callos said.

## Defending the echo requirement

A Jefferies analyst asked about a rival's planned late-stage trial without echo-guided dose adjustments, and whether Cytokinetics could move toward a symptom-based approach. CEO Robert Blum said the company has long discussed whatever any follower is contemplating, and that easing or removing the safety program, known as a REMS, would require real-world evidence from what he expects to be thousands of patients.

R&D chief Fady Malik anticipated a two- to three-year timeframe for that data. Cytokinetics has started a real-world study, Aspen HCM, which Chief Medical Officer Steve Heitner said will help inform future talks with regulators on the REMS.

Pressed again by a UBS analyst, Blum said he did not want to spend much time on "speculation relating to another company's development program." He noted that the FDA imposed the REMS even though Sequoia HCM showed no dose terminations tied to ejection-fraction excursions.

## Regulatory dates ahead

Cytokinetics sells myCORSO (aficamten) for symptomatic obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a thickening of the heart muscle, through its own U.S. sales force. Blum said the FDA's target decision date for the Maple HCM data is November 14, and later in the call he referred to an FDA decision "next week."

The company plans to submit a supplemental application for non-obstructive HCM this quarter, and an application to European regulators in early 2027\. Blum said it expects to launch in the UK this quarter.

Blum said the company is still deciding what it will say about 2027 guidance, calling it premature to comment.
