# Boyd Gaming Moves All $800.9 Million Of Its Credit Facility Into Short-Term Debt

[Boyd Gaming](https://www.bullished.co/tag/byd/), the Las Vegas casino operator, now counts all [$800.9 million](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/0000906553/000143774926033786/bgc20260930%5F10q.htm?ref=bullished.co) drawn on its credit facility as current debt, according to its third-quarter 10-Q filed Wednesday. The trigger is a September 1, 2027 springing maturity that applies unless the company's $1.0 billion of 4.750% notes due 2027 are retired or refinanced.

## A $962.7 million working capital hole

The reclassification drove the working capital deficit to $962.7 million at September 30, from $448.5 million at December 31\. The [prior quarter's 10-Q](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/0000906553/000143774926025062/bgc20260602%5F10q.htm?ref=bullished.co) put the deficit at $141.0 million and carried the facility, then $741.1 million, as long-term debt.

The company said payments of $364.2 million for transferable federal energy tax credits bought in 2025 partly offset the increase. Those payments also explain the drop in operating cash flow: $313.4 million for the first nine months, against $701.4 million a year earlier.

The filing's wording on the trigger changed. It now says the notes must be "retired or refinanced," and adds that Boyd can satisfy the test by paying the notes off with credit facility availability of $1,834.9 million. If it does either, the facility's maturity reverts to its stated date.

## Buybacks kept running on borrowed money

Boyd repurchased $475.0 million of stock in the nine months and paid $43.4 million in dividends. Net borrowings of $625.9 million funded much of that, along with the tax credit payments. The board's remaining repurchase authorization stood at $387.1 million.

The borrowing rebuilt debt that the 2025 sale of its FanDuel stake had retired. Average principal outstanding under the facility was $554.9 million over the nine months. Boyd entered the current agreement in January 2026: a $1,450.0 million revolver and a $1,200.0 million delayed-draw term loan.

Boyd said it believes cash, facility capacity and operating cash flow will cover its needs for the next twelve months.

## A casino operator with a Norfolk build

Boyd operates 26 casino properties in 11 states, manages the Sky River Casino in California and runs the Boyd Interactive online gaming unit. It is spending on a [$750 million](https://www.spglobal.com/ratings/en/regulatory/article/-/view/type/HTML/id/3650117?ref=bullished.co) Norfolk, Virginia resort, with $275 million budgeted for 2026, and plans to open it in November 2027.

S&P Global Ratings revised its outlook on Boyd to positive on Tuesday and expects [leverage near 2.7x](https://www.spglobal.com/ratings/en/regulatory/article/-/view/type/HTML/id/3650117?ref=bullished.co) in 2027 as Norfolk is built.

The test date is September 1, 2027: a refinancing or retirement of the 2027 notes before then returns the facility to long-term classification.
