Allstate estimated its September catastrophe losses at [$220 million](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/0000899051/000089905126000150/exhibit99newsrelease101526.htm?ref=bullished.co), or $173 million after tax, in its monthly release issued Thursday. Losses for the whole third quarter came to $1.65 billion, or $1.30 billion after tax.

## What the release says

The figures sit in Allstate's September 2026 monthly release, dated October 15 and attached as Exhibit 99 to an [8-K](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/0000899051/000089905126000150/all-20261015.htm?ref=bullished.co) filed the same day.

Two sets of numbers are given, each before and after tax:

- September estimated catastrophe losses: $220 million, or $173 million after tax.
- Third-quarter catastrophe losses: $1.65 billion, or $1.30 billion after tax.

The release is short. It gives the totals and does not break them down by event or region, and it carries no other results.

The September figure is labeled an estimate. The quarter's total is stated without that word.

## How it was disclosed

The company filed the exhibit under Item 7.01, Regulation FD disclosure, the rule on sharing material information with all investors at once. The [8-K](https://www.bullished.co/learn/8-k-items-explained/) says the exhibit is "furnished and not filed," a distinction that affects how the document is treated under securities law.

The release says the report is also posted on allstateinvestors.com. The 8-K was signed by Eric K. Ferren, Allstate's Senior Vice President, Controller and Chief Accounting Officer.

## What it changes for holders

The release adds a September number and a full-quarter total to what investors had. It offers no comparison with the prior month or the prior year, so this update does not show whether losses are running above or below earlier periods.

Allstate shares closed at $236.17 on Wednesday, down 0.10%, before the release was published Thursday morning. That close predates the disclosure and is not a reaction to it.

The release's boilerplate says Allstate has 216 million policies in force.

The release's own forward-looking-statement language says actual results could differ materially from estimates, and September's $220 million is labeled one.
